Services: I offer support to new families through a minimum of three private prenatal consultations, attendance at labor and birth and breastfeeding support postpartum. During our prenatal visits I help you and your partner prepare for the experience of birth by exploring the physical and psycho-social experience of birth. I am present for your labor and birth, helping you and your partner work together during the birth of your baby. I also offer techniques to help cope with the intensity of birth, and information and support should unexpected events occur. I assist with breastfeeding after the baby is born and continue in a supportive capacity until breastfeeding is established.
My services are available for both home and hospital birth. My focus is on birth as a natural and normal process while fully supporting you in choosing what is best for you.
I will soon be adding prenatal and breastfeeding classes to the services I offer.

Personal notes: I have been fascinated by the process of birth since 1983, when my first daughter was born at home. I have since birthed five daughters and from each of my birth experiences I learned more of what women need before, during and after birth. In 1987 - 1989 I took a Childbirth Educator training workshop and several workshops which focused on birth as a process and an initiation. In 1990, I became a certified volunteer group leader with La Leche League International, a world- wide non-profit organization devoted to breastfeeding. Since then I have led informational meetings and provided individual support in person and over the phone. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and am certified as a doula through Doulas of North America (DONA). I have been working as a birth partner since 1999. I am in the process of completing my certification as a childbirth educator through the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (ALACE).
