Services: I will provide continual physical, emotional and informational support to the mother and her partner before, during and just after childbirth.

Qualifications: DONA trained and DONA certified, Member of DAE (Doulas of Edmonton),TERRA trained.

Personal notes: My decision to become a doula came as a natural progression of my life’s journey. I feel that the birth experiences of my three children and the loss of my twin boys has brought me to this place and I perceive that I can offer support, information and knowledge to all types of women.As an African American woman my hope is to have my doula practice reflect some of my heritage. In some African cultures it is a tradition to use birth beads during pregnancy as they can be a compelling tool for the mother to realize she has empowerment over this experience. The mother, at some point during her pregnancy, is handed over is a necklace of birth beads. She also receives a journal detailing the birth stories behind each bead. After the birth, the mother and her baby's story are written in the journal. The journal, and necklace with her newly added bead, are returned to the doula,to be passed on to the next mother.
