Services: I provide prenatal support answering questions and referring to appropriate services that are outside of my scope of practice.I will meet with you before the birth and discuss your wishes( and those of your partner) and what you expect of me. You may call me after this at anytime. In addition I am available to you at home and at the hospital from the time you go into labor until a few hours after delivery depending on what your needs are and how the delivery process goes.I will check on you the day after delivery and then we will schedule a postnatal visit to see how you are feeling, to process the birth experience and to answer any questions you or your partner may have. Any support I can not provide I will refer you to, if needed. I am also in touch with other doulas to help provide backup in case of any emergencies that may arise in my own life preventing me from attending a birth.

Qualifications: I have had DONA training and will be completing my requirements by the fall of this year. I am also a clinical Social Worker since 1986 and have extensive training in supporting women and have worked with pregnant women of all backgrounds.I am respectful of a womans decision in choosing how she wants to birth and have no attachment to any birthing style.I am familiar with uncomplicated births, complicated births as well as Neonatal intensive care issues.

Personal notes: I am a 44 year old mother of 3(1 girl and 2 boys).I am married for the 2nd time. My first child was born when I was 21.It was a very medicated delivery with no complications.I was a single parent for 10 years and remarried in 1993.My 2nd delivery, at the age of 40, was 2 months premature and was a completely natural delivery in 6 hours much to the Doctors surprise.I was in the hospital 2 weeks before delivery and my son was in hospital for 6 weeks after his delivery and was released with no complications. I worked extensively with my husband in visualizing what we wanted and ultimatley created this. The Birthing From Within book helped enormously as well as other work we did .My next delivery was at the age of 44 , 7 months ago . I had pre-eclampsia and was induced but delivered naturally in 2 hours, again surprising staff at not needing any interventions as I was getting myself ready (if the intense contractions did not stop) for an epidural. Induction can be very intense I quickly learned.I currently stay at home and plan to return to doing therapy eventually. I plan to do births on a part time basis and to schedule only one a month to prevent births from overlapping.
