Personal notes: I have been studying natural childbirth and birthing options for over 8 years. I joined CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) in 2001 when my family was stationed in Japan, and began their distance learning program for Doula Certification. I finished my certification here in Alabama with several hands-on training sessions, including Lactation Educator and Childbirth Educator classes, and am now a  Certified Child Birth Educator. I have been Certified with the American Red Cross as a Healthy Pregnancy/Healthy Baby Instructor. I am a member of Operation Special Delivery for spouses of personnel currently stationed overseas. I myself am a military wife, and had my first baby while my husband was deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1991, so I have a special place in my heart for any wife who is having her baby alone, without dad being there. I have learned so much as well from attending women in labor as a doula, and from the births of my own six children.
