Services: As a birth doula I meet with my clients initially to establish a repoire and most importantly a friendship. If my services are choosen I meet with the family to help design a birth plan, discuss options for labor and birth and become aquainted with their most important desires surrounding their baby's "birthday". I am available for childbirth education if so desired and encourage the family to keep in close touch as the greatly expected day draws closer. Once in labor, I am a constant to the family reguardless of the length of labor. I stay with the family for a few hours after the birth to see to it that the mommy is comfortable and that any questions reguarding the postpartum recovery are answered. I can also assist during that time in helping the mother establish her nursing.

Personal notes: I am a stay-at-home mother of two boys. I had my first son with an epidural and many other common obstetrical interventions. While I was thrilled with my new precious baby, I grieved over the type of birth we experienced. I just knew that it could have been better. When I became pregnant with my second child I knew that I had to find a way to a more positive birthing experience. With the help of an awesome doula, my husband and I were able to marvel in the beauty and awesomeness of giving birth naturally. My work as a doula has become a passion for me, not a job (my real employers are a 6 year old and 2 year old). I can only hope and pray to touch other birthing families in the same caring and supporting way that my doula cared for me.
