Services: Before Your Birth I Will: -Meet with you 2 to 3 times in order to get acquainted and discuss your desires for the birth of your baby, and how you and your partner believe I can be most helpful to you. -Assist you in exploring birthing options and creating a "Birth Plan." -Be available by phone 24 hours a day to address any questions or concerns you may have. -Be on call from the moment I become your doula until you deliver. -Attend appointments with your caregiver or at your childbirth classes if you do not have a partner to accompany you. (If my availability allows.) -Arrange for you to have a back-up doula on the unlikely chance that I am unable to attend your birth. During Labor I Will: -Join you as soon as you feel that you need me, either at your home or at the hospital, and remain with you through the birth of your baby and for at least one hour postpartum. -Provide practical suggestions for working with contractions and to help you relax, including emotional support, variations in position, touch and massage, visual imagery, and other labor support techniques. -Help your partner/spouse participate more fully in the experience by enhancing their ability to provide support. -Ensure that your caregivers are aware of your birth plan, and that you get all the information you need to make educated decisions about possible tests and procedures. After Your Baby's Birth I Will: -Help with initial breastfeeding, if necessary. -Schedule a postpartum visit to discuss your birth and answer any questions you may have. -Provide a "Birth Story." -Provide referrals to other caregives, such as postpartum doulas, lactation consultants, etc. -Continue to be available by phone, as needed

Qualifications: I am a member of the Birth Care Network and Doulas of North America. I attended a DONA approved doula training workshop in June 2003, and am pursuing status as a certified birth doula from DONA.
