Services: As your doula/labor support, I will come to your home for a minimum of 4 prenatal visits, attend your baby's birth and follow-up your family's care with at least 1 postpartum visit.
My visits help us to get to know one another and they also allow me to teach about the birth process and how to stay healthy & low risk.
All of my home visits are very personalized, lasting 2-3 hours per visit, and each visit may include a short educational video.
My personal connection helps the families I serve have better birthing experiences, with less medical intervention.
**1st visit**
Getting to know you and your family, prenatal exercises, nutrition; the foundation of a healthy pregnancy and relaxation.
**2nd visit**
The fundamentals of Childbirth; 1st & 2nd stages of labor, birthing tools and techniques and relaxation techniques.
**3rd visit**
Birth plan, how to avoid complications, together write a positive birth story and relaxation techniques.
**4th visit**
Post-partum, newborn care, breastfeeding, a labor rehearsal and relaxation techniques.
**Labor support at the birth**
**1-2 postpartum care visits**
Qualifications: For over the past 5 years I have been teaching The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth, teaching over 150 couples. But I have felt that just teaching classes sometimes was not enough to help families achieve the kind of birth experiences they wanted. And then many times the family's I taught would want my support at their birth.
So I feel that I can now be more help as a personal DOULA and private educator!
I am currently working on becoming a certified doula in the DONA (Doulas of North America) program, with my goal of completing the program no later than August of 2005.
My other backgrounds include: current CPR certification, a 3 month apprenticeship to become a Midwife, dental radiology instructor, and dental assistant/office manager.
Personal notes: I am a mother of 3 children. All of my personal childbirth experiences have been natural, with my first birth at the hospital and then my 2nd and 3rd births at home! (FYI: I have supported women who choose to have medication.)
Once my children are older I will become educated in Midwifery as I would like to one day be a certified nuse Midwife.
