Birth Doula Service
With the right support, women can birth their babies the way bodies know how. As a labor assistant, my intention is to provide that support throughout this amazing physically, emotionally and spiritually pivotal time.

Services: I offer support through the childbearing year, throughout labor and in the post-partum period. I also offer Reiki as part of my services through prenatal and post partum treatments and during labor as desired. I also offer lactation support.
Qualifications: I trained with ALACE in May of 2004. I am yet undecided if I want to eventually become certified or remain a lay labor assistant as I'm not sure certifaction is necessary to be a good labor assistant. I have also done a lot of self propelled learning and have learned an amazing amount about birth and women through my involvement with ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network).
I am Reiki Master/Teacher and have been since April 1999. I do treatments and teach others how to do Reiki.
Personal notes: I am the mother one one son, born via cesarean section. This experience propelled me to learn more about my birth and birth in general. Through this, I have discovered that many women, like myself, are underserved and unsupported during this amazing transitional time. I work as a labor assistant to support women so they can birth the way their bodies know how and be supported in their quest for an empowering birth experience. I am also a member of ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) and lead a local chapter in the greater Portland area that offers education and support to women trying to prevent cesarean sections, attain VBAC and heal from their cesarean and traumatic birth experiences. I have a special interest in supporting women who desire VBAC and lesbian couples. I also offer reduced rates for women with socio-economic struggles and teen/young mothers.
My long term plan is to become a homebrith midwife.
