Personal notes: I feel that babies are Mother Nature’s way of saying that life should go on, and that bringing a child into the world is the most life-changing experience a woman can have.
I understand that there are numerous beliefs among families as to how children should be welcomed into the world and feel it is my responsibility to help families integrate these beliefs into their birth experience.
I believe that childbearing has been taken out of the hands of those who were entrusted with it naturally, women who are capable of birthing their babies and their families who are capable of offering them great support.
I believe that while modern medicine assists greatly in saving lives and preserving the health of mothers and babies, it can also interfere with a process that is natural and instinctive. I believe that the birth experience can greatly impact how parents relate to each other and to their child, and will work to ensure the experience is a positive one. I believe every mother has the right and responsibility to make informed choices about her health and that of her child, and to be respected and revered no matter what those choices are.
I DO NOT believe that a mother or partner is a failure even if they are unsuccessful at having the “ideal” birth they planned for or if they make choices different from mine.
I recognize that your birth experience is one of the most important events of your life and one you will remember well forever.
