Services: Doula to families in the Baltimore, Columbia and Annapolis areas.I will remain with the woman throught her labor using different walks, squats and stances to encourage the baby to move down. My methods include relaxation, breathing and focusing techniques. Also used are positioning, massage, birth ball, water therapy, heat and cold, and special measures for back pain. Keeping an eye on the woman's fluid intake and elimination are also important.

Personal notes: I like to work with women early in the pregnancy to advise them on nutrition and body conditioning to help them prepare for labor. We will discuss the couple's expectations and fears concerning labor and develop a personal birthplan. When labor begins I support them at home for as long as they feel comfortable. Upon reaching the birth center or hospital I feel it important to maintain the proper atmosphere, fully support the woman and guide the family in ways in which they can help. My background in nursing allows me to be an informed liasion between the woman and the medical staff.
