Services: I provide individualized childbirth education through two prenatal meetings (which can include assisting with writing a birth plan). I will be on-call 24-hrs a day beginning at 38 weeks, and I will provide advocacy, support, and comfort measures throughout your labor, birth, and early postpartum time. I also will offer one at-home postpartum follow-up visit to help with breastfeeding or other needs.

Qualifications: I am ALACE-trained and currently working toward my certification. I have also attended a workshop at The Farm Midwifery Center. I have a Ph.D. in sociology and teach classes on birth and culture (among other things!) at a local university. I have served as a doula at several births and am excited to attend more!

Personal notes: I have two birth children, born in local hospitals without any pain medication. Both children were breastfed (14 mos and 25 months). When my first child was born in 2000, I was supported by a doula - and that made all the difference. My second birth was in 2003 and was a beautiful, unmedicated birth. Since becoming a mother, I have been an advocate for drug-free childbirth and breastfeeding. I look forward to working with women to support their choices in childbirth!
