Services: They offer a complimentary consultation. Then two pre-natal appointments take place in the comfort of your home.
The first pre-natal appointment is to discuss your birth plan, and the second is a hands-on preparation for labor and birth. Together they practice breathing and labour positions with you, and show you all the tools they use in labor: e.g. the birth ball, the massage oils, hot/cold therapy pads etc.
They are on call 24 hours per day. Although only one of them attends your birth, you will get to know both of them equally as well.
They offer continuous support for you and your spouse, therefore enhancing the birth experience, without replacing the father. They keep you informed about the hospital procedures and interventions, thereby minimizing medical interventions.
They also provide a postpartum visit, a birth story, photographs, and a tincture to help heal perineal tissues.
Qualifications: DONA Certified and Executive Members of the Doula Association of Edmonton. Suzanne has a BA in Psychology and a BEd. Both Suzanne and Tracey are completing the Childbirth Education Program to offer private pre-natal classes.
Personal notes: Suzanne has 2 children and Tracey has 3. Tracey's third son was born at home under the care of midwives. Both believe that birth should be positively memorable and empowering. They have served 50 clients and all have been very pleased with their services.
