Services: Meet with Client privately at least once before the birth to discuss priorities, fears and concerns, and plan how we will best work together. Provide birth plan information and consultation.
Answer questions and make suggestions over the phone at any time before labor begins.
Provide early labor support as requested, including in the Client’s home.
Remain with the Client once active labor has begun until one or two hours after the birth.
Utilize non-medical support techniques for labor and birth.
Strive to maintain a calm and peaceful birth environment.
Photograph labor, birth, and recovery, if desired, and time and circumstance permit. (Client is responsible for providing camera and film, as well as processing.)
Provide breastfeeding support and assistance immediately postpartum.
Assist in providing information and supplying emotional support by telephone on postpartum care, breast-feeding and newborn care after the birth as requested.
Visit the Client at home after the birth to review the birth, admire the baby, and obtain feedback about the Birth Doula’s role and performance.

Qualifications: Natural Childbirth Educator since 1999. Direct Entry doula since 2001. References available upon request.

Personal notes: After the Bradley Method® birth of my daughter in 1998, I began the certification process with the American Academy of Husband Coached Childbirth. I became a fully accredited instructor of The Bradley Method® and began teaching childbirth classes 1999. Becoming a doula was a natural progression in my career and my dedication to enhancing women’s childbearing options. I have been providing doula services since 2001. I am actively involved with LaLeche League International. My interests include reading, crafts, cooking, fitness and nutrition, and of course helping expectant parents give birth to healthy, happy babies.
