Services: I serve the greater metro-Jackson area as a professional labor assistant and co-teaching natural childbirth classes.

Qualifications: I am provisionally certified through Birthing Options' Childbirth Education and Services (BOCES). I completed the training workshop in August 2002 and am currently working through the remainder of the certification requirements.

Personal notes: I believe in childbirth as an instinctual process. I believe women were designed perfectly to birth their children as well as to nourish them. I believe that within each woman lies the ability to give birth in the exact same way we grow the lives inside of us; naturally, beautifully and safely. Most importantly, I believe that women should be able to labor and birth their children according to their own convictions and instincts as opposed to what is shoved at them or inflicted on them. The role of the doula is to provide continuous, nurturing and objective female support. As a doula, I know that the parents will carry their birth experience with them for the rest of their lives and my role is to help the parents have the type of birthing experience they want.
