Services:
There are three aspects of my services.
Before labor
I will meet with you and, if you wish, your partner, at least twice before labor begins. We will explore your anxieties and concerns, discuss your birth preferences and any prior birth experiences, practice comfort/relaxation techniques, and plan how we might best work together. We may also decide on future meetings and will remain in touch by telephone and/or email leading up to your birth.
When you are in labor
As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or hospital. I draw on my professional training, knowledge, and experience to provide emotional support, offer suggestions for physical comfort, and facilitate communication between you and your hospital staff. Throughout labor I provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning and techniques for comfort.
After the birth of your child
I traditionally remain with you for one to two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for your first quiet time together. During this time I can assist with breastfeeding, if desired.

Qualifications:
I have completed birth doula training approved by DONA and am in the process of completing certification. I have served as an apprentice to many experienced doulas in the Northern NJ area and have also worked independently. I am familiar with caregivers/hospitals who are supportive of normal birth. I am also in the process of earning a Master’s degree in counseling.
Personal notes:
I find great joy in supporting and advocating for women and teaching them how to trust their own bodies and intuition. With my Master’s degree in counseling, I am fully qualified to address the anxieties, fears and concerns that arise in many pregnant women. My greatest strength is my ability to empower women to attend to their own emotional and physical needs.
